Search Tips

Word - services - finds all Wright County web pages that include the word services

Phrase - "social services" - finds the phrase "social services", in that order. Consecutive words are treated as a phrase and must appear in the same order within a matching document.

Random words - Use the Boolean operators: AND, OR, AND NOT, and NEAR to show the relationship between random words in your search.

  • AND - social and services - finds pages that include both of these words somewhere on the same page (adding more words narrows down your search)
  • OR - social or services - finds all pages that include either the word social or the word services or both words (broadens your search)
  • OR - social or services - finds all pages that include either the word social or the word services or both words (broadens your search)
  • AND NOT - social and not services - finds all pages with the word social, and then excludes any that also include the word services
  • NEAR - social near services - finds all pages that contain both of these words less than 50 words apart. Then ranks the results. If the words on the page are nearer to each other, the page will get a higher ranking and appear closer to the top of your Results List.

Word endings - Use * to find all word endings, e.g. serv* = service, served, serving

All forms of a word - Use ** to find all forms of a word, based on the stem of the word.

  • e.g. caught** - (catch, catching, caught) finds all variations of the word

Case - search function is case insensitive.

  • e.g. social services or Social Services - are equal searches
